Post Ready Steady Grow Event 27th July
The Friends of Maxwell Park will be running a stall in the Stirling Room of Pollokshields Burgh Hall during the afternoon of Sunday 27th July. We will be serving refreshments and hope to have a plant stall.

Volunteer here! We need: plants for sale, volunteers to man the stalls and baking.

Members of the Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre are going to be available for any queries and advice. You will be able to find them near the pond. We are delighted that they have agreed to attend this event as we feel it is important for us to learn more about our pond visitors and what to feed them. If you aren't able to make it along, post your questions here and we'll try and get them answered for you.

Dear Friend

READY STEADY GROW EVENT 27TH JULY

You may be aware that the Friends of Maxwell Park has now gained charitable status from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator so we are now ready to become more active in our fundraising and support for the Park.

This will be the first event that we are supporting as part of Pollokshields Garden Festival. This new garden festival celebrates the heritage of our area through the ‘Proud of Pollokshields’ groups involved in increasing community participation in caring for our precious few greenspaces – and keeping the tradition of the Garden Suburb alive.

The Friends of Maxwell Park are running a tearoom and plant stall in the Stirling Hall in the Burgh Hall from 12 – 4pm. We would be very grateful if you feel you could provide plants or home baking.

We are delighted that the Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre is coming to give advice and information. They have helped rescue the young swans and they will be around the pond during the afternoon to offer advice and guidance. Butterfly Conservation Scotland will also be with us in the Stirling Room of the Burgh Hall and we look forward to welcoming them we will also have information from Buglife – The Invertebrate Conservation Trust.

Please help us to make the day a great success and hope you can contribute, even by offering a bit of help on the day. I can collect
Any items if you give me a call on 0141 423 0734 or mobile 07966867929. Also remember you can “post” comments and suggestions on the website. Ideas and suggestions welcome.

Yours sincerely,
Sarah Melville
